Virgin Voyages Experience: Conclusion

The Virgin Voyages experience is unlike any other cruise vacation. Founded by Richard Branson, this adult-only cruise line exudes luxury and boasts top-notch decorations, offering everything from Michelin-star-standard dining to unique onboard experiences. This is my favorite cruise line.

Dining is reservation-based, so booking in advance is recommended to experience all the venues. While the customer service was adequate (we did have a complaint about customer treatment), the low passenger count (800 on a ship with a 3000 capacity) due to the post-COVID launch created a wonderfully private atmosphere.

The other passengers were also very pleasant. This cruise line seems to attract business executives and CEOs, offering numerous relaxation spots for deep meditation and reading

Embarkation

The check-in process was easygoing. We arrived an hour early, and they let us in 30 minutes later. There’s a trick: if you come the day before, you can check in your bags with Virgin and just walk through the lines the next day. The process was very smooth and swift.

Accommodation & Onboard Amenities

The balcony, complete with a hammock, truly made the Virgin Voyages experience magical. Upgrading to a full balcony view for $100 was well worth it, as we thoroughly enjoyed the room. The modern decor was stylish and thoughtful touches like complimentary Wi-Fi, bottled water, and convenient charging stations for our devices were a definite plus.

While there was no evening turndown service (we only saw our steward during the day), the ship offered other exceptional amenities. The elevators were stunning, and I particularly loved the five-star relaxation areas. And the food! From incredible pastries reminiscent of Michelin-star restaurants to delicious ramen at the cafeteria, the culinary offerings were outstanding.

Overview of Dining Options: The restaurants are very creative, with Michelin-star standards. The dining options are based on restaurant reservations, and it is advisable to book in advance so you get to experience all the restaurants.

The Wake: Steak & Eggs for Brunch & Dinner

I really enjoyed the steak breakfasts & dinners here. It’s one of my highlight meals. The bread is to live for!

Extra Virgin: Italian for dinner only

This was our first dinner & we loved it! The food was delicious & the food decor was outstanding.

Razzle Dazzle: Vegan options for lunch & dinner

This is my favorite! They have a naughty list that I enjoyed. The curry was delicious & churros to die for. We ate here four times because we enjoyed it so much.

Pink Agave: Mexican touch for dinner only

Pink 3 — This was a Tex mex feel with strong drinks. The food was yummy & atmosphere was loud.

Gunbae: Korean BBQ for dinner only

This was our least favorite restaurant & the options were okay & we did not like the octopus etc. But it was quite an experience as we shared a table with two CEOs.

Test Kitchen: Micheline Star for dinner only

This was a fun experience but we were so hungry after as the portions were small. We later had pizza!

The Galley: Buffet all-day

I frequented the Buffett several times a day as I enjoy their delicious food that is so beautiful to look at. I had ramen several times & they also have a healthy bowl bar.

This is like a gaming area with popcorn, hot dogs & beautiful desserts

We enjoyed hanging out at this pizza place as it has an open decor & delicious pizza made fresh for us.

Roatan, Honduras

My visit to Roatan, Honduras, marked my first experience in this beautiful country, and encountering a sloth in its natural habitat was a true highlight. The island has a rich cultural heritage, shaped in part by the Methodist Revival movement, which brought many islanders to Roatan. I was deeply impressed by the warmth and genuine hospitality of the local people.

Bimini, Bahamas

Virgin’s private beachfront in Bimini, Bahamas, is a highlight of the itinerary. The area is beautifully designed, complete with a large fire pit and comfortable waterfront beds ideal for relaxation. Despite the unseasonably cold weather, we appreciated the included island food, which was a welcome treat.

Virgin Voyages Experience: Conclusion

While I enjoyed my Virgin Voyages experience and would sail with them again, my friends found the entertainment lacking. Given that the cruise line was relatively new at the time, this is understandable, and I’m confident that the entertainment offerings have improved, especially with Jennifer Lopez now serving as director of entertainment.
