Ultimate Pilgrimage To Mother Mary’s House In Turkey

This was a beautiful pilgrimage during our Celebrity Cruise to Greece & Turkey in September. The highlight was visiting the Mother Mary house in Turkey, an intensely spiritual site nestled in the hills near Kuşadası.
Our journey began with a long travel day, flying from the USA to Istanbul, Turkey, then another hour-plus flight to Athens, Greece, where our Celebrity Infinity ship departed.
Our first stops were in Greece—first Crete, then Santorini, which was truly magical. Then, we sailed on to Kuşadası, Turkey.

Ephesus: A City of Faith and History Leading to the House of Mary in Turkey

Our shore excursion started at Ephesus, an hour-plus walk around the magnificent ancient city that greatly impacted the book of Ephesians in the Bible.

After our tour, we drove about twenty minutes to the tranquil hill where the House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi) is located.
It is believed that this is where Saint Mother Mary lived her final years, cared for by the Apostle Saint John. John, the author of the Gospel of John, was instructed by Jesus on the cross to care for His mother.
Following this sacred command, John brought Mother Mary to Turkey in her later years.
This belief firmly establishes the significance of the Virgin Mary House Turkey as a sacred site.
The Walk to Mary’s House

We were fortunate with the line! It was not as long as the day before, which had an hour-and-a-half wait; we only waited about ten minutes.
While no pictures are allowed inside the small house of the virgin mary ephesus, the atmosphere of the house was life-altering, instilling within me a peace beyond understanding. It felt like truly sacred ground
As a Christian, I do not pray to Mary, but I hold a deep admiration and respect for her life. It was a beautiful, tranquil experience that my heart longs for amidst my busy mind and life.
While walking through, there was an impacting mosaic of her on the wall that was truly beautiful.
Candle Light and Prayer at the Virgin Mary House Turkey

Once outside her home, with a small donation, you can receive a few candles to say your prayers.
Right next to the Mary’s house in Turkey are two other significant spots:
- The Wailing Wall: Millions have written their prayers on pieces of paper and left them here at this wall as a gesture of faith and worship.

- The Holy Spring Water: A few feet from Mother Mary’s house is a spring where the water is believed to be miraculous. Millions travel here for the Holy Water. I have personally experienced a similar miracle during my pilgrimage to the country of Georgia, where I stumbled on the spring of Saint Nino. You can read more about it there.

Special trinkets I bought at this Holy Site & a special gift from our Tour Company that Celebrity arranged for us.
